Helen Ward, the Principal of one of Plettenberg Bay's leading real estate agencies Helen Melon Properties, is world class. This is the view of property expert and educator Rob McKee. McKee, who lectures on international trends in the real estate business to South Africans, is associated with Knight Frank - the largest private property group in the world with 270 offices worldwide.
McKee says Ward meets international standards in real estate and, as such, is considered to be a "Real Estate Agent of the World", a phrase he has coined to distinguish top achievers in the property business. He made the comments on Thursday September 1 at the ninth anniversary of the opening of Helen Melon Properties in Plettenberg Bay, seven years in the main street of Plett.
Emphasising the Helen Melon Properties ethos of being "bright and refreshingly different," Ward said: "If it were not for our amazing clients, friends and families we would not be here today. Thank you all for your incredible support.
"No matter what industry you are in you are faced with high and low points, challenges and successes," said Ward.
"Contrary to popular belief the life of an estate agent, now referred to as a property practitioner, is extremely stressful. Without the support of our family, friends and clients it would be an awfully hard and lonely journey," she said.
Ward paid tribute to all her staff, naming them individually for the contribution they have made to Helen Melon's success. She also singled out those associated with community projects supported by Helen Melon Properties and the effective work that is being done to "give back to the community".
The projects include: the Crags Drill squad which has, in conjunction with the police, "instilled a sense of belonging" to young people living in Kurland Village; the Kwano netball team; Keep Plett Clean; Hospice Plett, Helen Melon's main charity.
"None of this could be possible without the incredible team at Helen Melon - and I wish to stress the word team!" Ward told guests attending her spring day celebrations that, "contrary to rumours", Helen Melon does work in all price sectors of the Plettenberg Bay property market. "Our sales range from starter homes, sectional title units to large homes in the top gated estates as well as beachfront properties. "We value each and every one of our buyers and sellers regardless of the size or price range of their purchase and sale," said Ward.
