Professionals join the HMP team.

Helen Melon Properties has experienced exceptional growth in the two years since Helen Ward started the company. Helen’s vision was to start a boutique agency that offered a professional and personalised service for buyers and sellers. Helen did not want to take any property she could lay her hands on but chose instead to cherry-pick quality properties in the Plettenberg Bay area with serious sellers. Properties that were priced to sell.

This strategy has served her well, and this experienced property woman has firmly established herself as one of Plett’s realty specialists.

As she grew the company so Helen decided she needed some assistance and started looking for professionals who share the same vision she does. She searched for high calibre people, similar to the way she looks for properties, choosing to cherry-pick the most suitable instead of taking an “I’ll try anything approach”. She believes she has found what she was looking for and is proud to announce two new additions to her team.

Both men were looking for opportunities in Plettenberg Bay and are excited to get started with this fast growing company. Helen is proud to introduce the newest members of the HMP team.

Patrick Lavery.

Patrick is a Professional Architect, who, over the years has worked on projects ranging from private residential, to hospitals, commercial projects and a soccer stadium.

He has had his practice in Plettenberg Bay since 2003, styled Lavery Architects. Previously, he has practiced in the Eastern Cape in Bisho, King William’s Town and Stutterheim, where a large proportion of projects were for the Eastern Cape Government. More recently, for a three year period, he was employed by the Buffalo City Municipality, as their City Architect, based in East London.

He has now returned to Plett and has decided to seek out new challenges via Helen Melon Properties, combining his architectural and project feasibility experience into the property milieu of Plett.

Willie Ford.

Willie first encountered Plett when holidaying as a young kid. Although he has visited many times in his life, he moved there permanently at the beginning of 2014.

Willie enjoyed a varied and colourful professional life, which started by qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in London. He has since worked as an investment banker and has run a number of successful businesses since. This includes a Stockbrokerage (with Anglo as a shareholder), and inbound travel company and an executive recruitment agency. His main business focus throughout the 90’s was Medical Air Rescue Service – a road and air ambulance service which covered Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi, and grew to more than 250 people.

He also lived in Australia for a while but says that Plettenberg is now home to him and his family. They have built a house in Plett and intend to see out their days here. Willie was scouting around for some meaningful occupation and was delighted when Helen approached him to join the HMP team. With a successful entrepreneurial history in a number of businesses, he has always had a particular interest in property. He enjoys dealing with people and sees HMP as an ideal opportunity for someone with his varied skill set. Especially considering that he loves Plettenberg Bay.
