Changes to Gas Compliance Certificates

Category Property News

SAQCC Gas is a non-profit organization that is responsible for registering and maintaining a centralised database of gas practitioners in the Natural Gas, Liquified Petroleum Gas, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Gas, and Compressed Industrial and Medical Gases industries on behalf of the Department of Employment and Labour. Due to an increase in certification-related fraud, SAQCC Gas has launched a digital platform for issuing gas compliance certificates. The platform has been active since 1 April 2023 and requires SAQCC-registered inspectors to issue certificates using the online app.

Starting from 1 May 2023, a new prescribed 5-page gas certificate of compliance (COC) will be required to comply with the legal obligation to provide a gas COC for properties with gas installations. From now, all gas COCs must be in the prescribed form, and gas compliance companies may not use any other format. Please follow this link for the prescribed form.

As of 1 May 2023, conveyancers will not accept any gas COC in a different format for a property transfer.
