Wittedrift High School Technical Engineering Faculty

A remarkable new chapter is unfolding at Wittedrift High School, as the school begins construction on a cutting-edge Technical Engineering Faculty. This visionary project, set to open its doors in 2026, will offer students an exceptional opportunity to study technical subjects alongside their traditional high school curriculum.

Wittedrift High School (WHS) was selected by the Hands On Foundation Charitable Trust founder, Saul Berman, because of its proud 160-year history, consistent academic achievements and strong governance.

Education has always been a powerful tool for shaping the future, but it’s only truly transformative when it recognizes the unique abilities and aspirations of each student. Many young minds are drawn to practical, hands-on learning—be it in engineering, construction, or design. By integrating technical subjects into the curriculum, WHS is giving students the opportunity to explore and develop skills aligned with their capabilities and interests while still being fully integrated into the broader school community.

As a community Plettenberg Bay is very excited about this project.  We strongly believe it will not only benefit our children by offering our them a meaningful pathway to employment but also contribute to the broader community by addressing youth unemployment and the significant skills gap we have in trades-people and professionals in our area.

The project is infused with is a strong sense of community-driven change.   Please support their fundraising efforts by donating via their Buy a Brick campaign found on their website or the QR codes found on posters in our windows and in those of others around town.

The Technical Engineering Faculty is more than just new building—it is a catalyst for change and opportunity. The future is indeed bright for the students who will walk through the doors of this remarkable institution.
