Helen Melon Business Bowls League

Another community initiative by Helen Melon Properties was when we decided to sponsor The Plettenberg Bay Bowling Club’s Business League. This is a social league made up of teams from the local community as well as businesses.

We recently celebrated the end of the first business bowls league competition for 2017 at the Plettenberg Bay Bowling Club. Every Tuesday evening for 6 weeks, 36 teams with 108 players came together to bowl for the winning title and the Helen Melon trophies of 2017. This they did, meeting new people and enjoying lots of laughs and fun in the process.

Winning Team

The winning team of the January 2017 Business Bowls League for Division A was The Insurance and Investment Shop with a massive score of 86 points. In second place came Plett Surf with 77 points, and not far behind in third place was Rocky Road with 75 points. In Division B, first place went to Plett Primary with a competitive score of 70 points, second went to French Connection with 63 points, closely followed by Lion Roars with 62.5 points.

Popular event

This event has grown in popularity over the last few years, and we unfortunately had to turn away eight teams for this last competition.

A highlight on the Plett social calendar, this event is oversubscribed with the next League taking place in October which will run for 6 weeks. There are already 24 spots taken leaving only 12 openings. If your team has not signed up, get there fast to avoid disappointment.

Helen Melon Properties is very proud to sponsor this hugely popular event, and with our association with Plettenberg Bay Bowling Club. PBBC is a well-established club with its spectacular views of the Langkloof and Tsitsikamma mountains, three superbly maintained greens and a spacious lounge and bar area, it’s not hard to see why.

The Business Bowls League is.

  • A fun barefoot bowling event aimed at all ages.
  • This event is not exclusive to companies, we often find friends and family pulling together to create their own teams.
  • It is a fantastic opportunity for networking and meeting fellow Plettonians.
  • The club has an active and involved committee.
  • This league was started to introduce young and old alike to bowls and make them aware that it is a sport not only for the “golden oldies”.
  • The club offers coaching and hosts fun days and corporate team building as well as bachelor and bachelorette parties.
